Henrik was born in 1981 in Nyköping, Sweden. He inherited his interest for horses from his mother, but it wasn’t until a visit to the Gothenburg International Horse Show that his passion came clear – he wanted to become a top rider.
Through friends he got an opportunity to work for his childhood idol Ludger Beerbaum in Riesenbeck, Germany. During his 12 years working with Ludger, Henrik reached great results with various different horses and was a trusted member in the Swedish team during countless Nations Cup’s. Since 2011 he has competed in seven Championships with six different horses; three European Championships, two Olympic Games and once at the World Equestrian Games. His biggest wins yet came with Ludger’s former horse Gotha FRH. The pair started their success story in Mechelen 2012 by winning the World Cup and went on to win much more; the Global Champions Tour in Estoril and the Hong Kong Masters to name a few.
In September 2016 Henrik took the next step on his career and started his own business Von Eckermann Sport Stable. He is now based near Bonn in Germany, at Karl Schneider’s beautiful yard. His ambition is to stay in the top sport and have a string of horses of different ages, capable of performing at the highest level. Henrik is also interested in sharing his knowledge to possible clients in form of clinics and training.
Henrik’s highlight of 2017 was placing 3rd in the Longines FEI World Cup Final in Omaha (USA) with Mary Lou. After taking part in six World Cup qualifiers n the 2017/2018 season and placing in all of them, being three times second and winning in Gothenburg, the pair is again qualified for the Final that will be held in Paris in April.
